Published 18 nov 2024
Modern, dynamic and with high precision: the new DS-7 Chrono Auto is inspired by the popular and increasingly growing sport of padel, in which Certina has been involved for several years.
The latest watch from the Swiss watchmaker is packed with details that pay tribute to this action-packed sport. The eye-catching dial features a grid structure inspired by the net on the padel court, and the modern automatic movement boasts an anti-magnetic silicon hairspring, ensuring performance even during the most intense matches.
Certina has been active in padel — already the second most popular sport in Spain after football — since 2021. Padel courts are appearing worldwide, where two teams compete in doubles matches, with the court walls included in the fast-paced gameplay. This extremely dynamic and powerful discipline is a perfect fit for Certina, a brand with a long tradition of sports sponsorship and the production of sporty and highly robust watches.
The new DS-7 Chrono Auto, featuring an impressive stainless steel case with a diameter of 42 mm and water resistance up to 10 bar (100 meters), is the perfect dynamic and resilient wrist companion. With a protected crown, classic mushroom push-buttons, and a tachymeter scale, it combines sporty style with functionality. The dial, in addition to hour and minute hands, features a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and a date display. Beneath the anti-reflective sapphire crystal glimmers a dark blue dial, enhanced by an embossed grid pattern reminiscent of the intersecting designs in padel nets and court walls. Super-LumiNova coating on the hands and indices ensures optimal readability even in low light. Alongside the dark blue version, accented by a red stopwatch hand, you can choose from two models with either dark green or black dials. All are equipped with stainless steel bracelets featuring a quick-change system.
While padel matches are known for their fast pace and surprising twists, the DS-7 Chrono Auto ticks along in precise rhythm. It features an automatic caliber with a silicon hairspring, which not only resists magnetic fields and temperature changes but is also exceptionally durable against shocks and oxidation, as well as dimensionally stable. The mechanical movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back.
